Chemical Peel Strength

The strength of any chemical peel depends on the:

  1. Concentration (Percentage) of the acid and
  2. pH of the acid.

REMEMBER!

“The higher the Percentage (%) of an acid, the stronger the acid is”

“The lower the pH of an acid, the more acidic it is and the deeper and quicker it can penetrate into the skin. More acidic is more aggressive”

“The deeper the peel, the more downtime and higher possibility of adverse reactions”

Who can apply each depth of Chemical Peels?

Licensed Estheticians mostly use chemical peels for superficial and some medium depth peels. And only Licensed Medical Professionals (RNs, NPs, PAs, Dermatologists) can use peels that penetrate to the lower reticular dermis, which is considered deep depth peels.

So, does this mean you cannot use them at home?

The chemical peels that you can use at home are slightly different than the one that is being use at a Medical Professional Clinic. At-home Chemical Peels have higher pH level. If you are a beginner to chemical peels, we recommend that you always start with the lowest percentage and high pH. Please read the CHEMICAL PEEL ESSENTIALS, a guide that will explain everything you need to know before your first peel. This is for your safety and to avoid any unwanted adverse reactions. It is very important to take a PROGRESSIVE APPROACH instead of aggressive approach. Meaning, you should start with lower percentage and progressing slowly or gradually or in stages.

REMEMBER these Approach!

“Progressive, Non-Aggressive”

“Low percentage, High pH, and Slow progression”
